hurricane preparedness
Our top priority is to protect the safety of our personnel and maintain reliable supply of our products to our customers.
All ExxonMobil operating facilities have extensive hurricane preparedness plans in place and we update and practice these plans to ensure readiness. These plans provide for coordination among all business units in key locations, including the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Hurricane Gustav
Update 5.30pm - 29 August 2008
- ExxonMobil is closely monitoring Hurricane Gustav and is completing severe weather preparations for those Gulf Coast oil and gas structures potentially in the path of storm. With the safety of our workforce as our first priority, evacuation of nonessential personnel continues from those offshore facilities expected to be in the path of the storm. We are prepared to evacuate remaining personnel from offshore facilities safely in advance of the storm. Gross production of approximately 3 thousand barrels a day of oil and 50 million cubic feet a day of natural gas has been shut in.
- In anticipation of the storm, ExxonMobil chemical plants and refineries along the Gulf Coast have also initiated preliminary safety procedures for weather related situations. At this time, normal operations continue. ExxonMobil has activated its emergency response teams as part of their preparations in advance of the storm's expected landfall.
