The refinery’s health and environment program is extensive and goal-orientated. High priority areas are:

• Action to prevent hearing loss
• Monitoring of and protection against hazardous substances
  

Wearing safety equipment is mandatory within the refinery area (safety glasses/goggles, hard hat, safety shoes). In high-risk areas or in special situations, the wearing of additional equipment such as hearing protection or fresh air apparatus is mandatory.

Sickness absence in 2007 was slightly above 6% in 2005 which is somewhat higher than our target which is lower than 3%. Short term self-certified absence made up only 0,5% of the total sickness absence.
