Around 60 % of the total refinery production is exported. This makes the refinery one of the largest Norwegian mainland export companies. All crude oil and around 90% of the production are unloaded/loaded ex quay -  a quay which is capable of receiving ships up to 250,000 deadweight tonnes.

There are a total of some 800 calls per year. Slagentangen is also home to ExxonMobil's Supply, Transportation and Distribution Department. This manages all of ExxonMobil's trade in crude oil and petroleum products – both refinery production and production from the North Sea fields.

The company operates a number of terminals along the coast for distribution of oil products. These are equipped with loading facilities/berths for tank trucks/smaller ships for re-distribution of products to gas stations or other customers. All trucking of oil products is performed by hauliers, while all marine transportation of crude, condensate and oil products is managed by independent shipowners.
