Singapore expansion insider

ExxonMobil’s commitment to blenders and formulators in Asia and the Pacific is shown by significant investment in our Jurong, Singapore, refinery. Our current Singapore refinery project is slated for completion in early 2019 and will offer an increased supply of enhanced Group II EHC™ base stocks. There are numerous men and women who are giving their all to make this 2019 project completion a success. This series of interviews will share their stories.

The first in our series features Brian Bade, project manager, Singapore expansion.

Q: Tell us about your role in this project, and what’s been most rewarding.
As a project manager, I am responsible for the engineering and construction of the Singapore expansion project. It’s a unique position and it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. I’ve had the opportunity to learn about different cultures and I’ve developed strong, lasting personal relationships with colleagues around the world through the work.

moment

Q: What’s something unique or surprising about your team?
While Singapore is home to this expansion project, the large-scale investment is a great example of the global integration required to successfully execute a project of this scale. Fun fact: When combined together, our team speaks roughly 10 different languages!

Q: What’s been the most exciting construction milestone for you to-date and why?
The reactor installation was a peak milestone for my team and me. We spent nearly one year planning and preparing for it and were thrilled with the successful transportation and completion of this mega-lift – it was truly a shining moment. It was also a visible reinforcement of our commitment to delivering on our investments.
