ExxonMobil Voyager Issue 34: August 2022
The old saying, ‘may you live in interesting times’, could have been written with today’s marine industry in mind. The International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) ambition to reduce the carbon footprint of international shipping is certainly going to lead to significant changes across the industry, making the recent IMO 2020 Fuel Sulphur regulation changes appear small in comparison.
The good news is that ExxonMobil has already started to formulate the answers to some of the marine industry’s most challenging questions.
In this issue of Voyager we explain how we’re working with marine industry stakeholders in the development of a range of next generation lubricants for use with lower carbon fuels.
There’s also a real-world example of the benefits of ExxonMobil’s current generation of lubricants when used in combination with our Mobil Serv℠ Oil Drain Optimization Program. On this occasion the operator achieved a 65% oil drain extension. And finally, there’s a contribution from Tom Strang, Senior Vice President at Carnival Corporation, that discusses the importance of collaboration in achieving the maritime industry’s sustainability goals.
Please get in touch and tell us what ExxonMobil can do to help you on your journey to a lower carbon future.
