Mobilgard™ 540 X cylinder oil helps reduce oil consumption while maintaining protection of MOL’s WinGD dual-fuel engines

Mobilgard™ 540 X cylinder oil, in partnership with Mobil Serv℠ Cylinder Condition Monitoring, helped ensure that MOL LNG Transport maintained the reliable operation of the WinGD X72DF dual-fuel engine engines in its fleet of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers.

MOL LNG Transport is one of the first operators switching some of its newer vessels, fitted with low-pressure dual-fuel engines, from liquid fuel to LNG. To address some of the potential lubrication-specific challenges, ExxonMobil recommended a high-performance cylinder oil that provides superior protection for two-stroke marine diesel engines.

The next-generation onboard scrape down oil analysis service, implemented with Mobilgard™ 540 X cylinder oil, demonstrated excellent cleanliness at feed rates as low as 0.7 g/kWh, delivering continued reliable operation and peace of mind.
