With base oil interchange and viscosity-grade read-across capabilities, our EHC™ 45 and EHC™ 65 products offer increased flexibility, broad blend coverage and simplified qualification testing.
The EHC™ 45 base stock is designed for blending 5W and heavier passenger car motor oils and can serve as a co-base to cost-optimize 0W formulations, while the EHC™ 65 base stock is ideal for heavy-duty engine oils and can optimize 15W-40 blending. Together, they enable important emerging grades, such as heavy-duty 10W-30.
EHC 45 and EHC 65 base stocks offer superior performance*
Recent bench oxidation testing showed that 5W-30 lubricants made with EHC 45 & EHC 65 Group II+/II base stocks outperformed lubricants made with competitive Group III/II or Group II+/II base stocks. Test after test showed that lubricants made with EHC base stocks had lower used oil viscosity, indicating superior oxidative stability and better low temperature performance.
*Based on 5W-30 lubricant comparisons in ASTM D7528 Bench Oxidation Tests using a GF-5 market general additive package; 5W-30 lubricants blended at equivalent KV at 100°C and CCS at -30°C.
